My experience and education enables me to offer effective outpatient, individualized, psychological care. I treat a number of mental health disorders such as bi-polar and major depressive disorder and generalized anxiety disorder and support your psychological needs with compasssion and insight. I treat individual children ages 2-9, adolesents ages 10-25, and adults of all ages. Our brains develop slowly and many people experience adolesent behaviors until age 27, when the prefrontal context, which allows us to modulate our inhibitions and regulat our emotions and thoughts, is usually fully formed. I have a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology from Adelphi University, a Masters in Clinical Social Work from Fordham University and a Masters in Teacher Educaiton from Banks Street College of Education, in addition to my Bachelors Degree in English Language and literature from Barnard College of Columbia University. I also have 6 years of post-graduate training in psychoanalysis from the NJ Institutue for Training in Psychoanalysis. I worked as a medical social worker in hospitals and rehabilitation centers for years and also as a school social worker for years. I taught eachly childhood and elementary education in my first career for 15 years, exploring my knowledge of child development. I also am a certified yoga teacher and yoga therapist with 4 certifications. I have taught children and adults relaxing meditation and yoga as a way to focus, find balance, calmness and peace. My voice is soothing and gentle.
My focus is to help individuals to heal, and empower themselves through my caring and knowledgeable guidance. You can become aware of your resilient inner strengths. I provide a nurturing safe space, listen carfully and actively to your concerns and problems, and customize your treatment plan collaboratively with you I use psychotherapy or talk therapy primarily and then infuse psychotanalysis, cognitive attachment therapy, behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, mindfulness therapy, trauma informed therapy, grief counseling, art therapy, and play therapy for children. I include families in my therapy for people under 18, providing family therapy. You can learn to value yourself and change for the better, stop addictions and negative behavior, and engage in life and relationships in new and healthier ways.
